Vanessa Selbst Finishes Career as a Professional Player
Vanessa Selbst announced via Facebook about the completion of a professional poker player’s career and transition to work in a hedge fund.
In this regard, Vanessa also leaves her position in the PokerStars Team Pros.
Vanessa gained wide popularity due to her aggressive style of play and aggressive behavior at the table. Selbst earned over $11.8 million in prize money in live tournaments for her career. Vanessa also has won three bracelets of the World Series in 2008, 2012 and 2014.
Nevertheless, her results have been steadily going down during the last two years. Starting from 2010, when she began to present PokerStars, until 2015, Selbst has received $800,000 in prizes each year. However, the total amount of her cashes in 2016 and 2017 were only $120,000.
Selbst admitted that poker had been a difficult job for her lately. With aging, it has become increasingly difficult to work hard to succeed in modern realities.
Selbst repeatedly told about her desire to reduce the number of trips. In addition, according to Vanessa, she no longer feels comfortable promoting online poker, because she believes that fans can no longer beat the game.
Leaving poker means a new career for Selbst, where many players have already tried their hand: the work of a trader in a hedge fund. Vanessa began a few months ago and is very happy to constantly learn something new in the incredibly complex field.
